Weekend in Swaziland

Time is running so fast. It seems, that this is my last free weekend in Swaziland, as I may go for another 2 weeks to the low fields, and than I will go to Cape Town. I’m glad, that David, who is as well an volunteer, from New Orleans, has similar interests as I have, and so we will spent this weekend to do some exciting tours. We planed, to have an relaxed day tomorrow, and go to the can factory and than to Manzini. On Saturday, we will go up early, to climb the Cheaps Head Mountain for the sun rise and in the afternoon we will go paragliding and than go to Malalotja, to stay here for the night, and go for a hike on Sunday and visit the oldes Iron Mine in the world and than the Ngwenjana Glass Factory.

I guess I won’t have internet access till the 5th of August. Take care and hear/read from you! Peggy

On Friday, the 13th we tried to go paragliding. Richard the guy who is doing this, picked us up in Mbabane. We drove thru the Pine Valley to his house on a big farm. Unfortunately the wind was not good to go paragliding. So David and I just walked up to the little mountain and than went by combi to Hawane Resort, where we liked to stay for the night. The backpacker here was so great!!! We slept in Stables. Cool. And also a nice Restaurant and Bar is in the camp here! … So we just used our time to go to the Ngwenjana Glass Factory. This was very interesting to see. They are making glasses and figures our of recycled glas. We had a great view into the whole process …
Saturday we just tried to call Richard again to see, if the weather is good to do the paragliding. Unfortunately he didn’t picked up his phone. … Than we asked here in Hawane Resort for the conditions to do the Quadbiking. Gavin had time for us. Great! That had been so cool. The only difficulty for me had been, that you are just changing the gear by not accelarating and just changing the gear. I always used the break to change the gear :o) … … We drove than back to our Lodge in Ezulwini Valley, and just throw our luggage onto our beds and take the next combi to Lebomba, to go to the Reedance. … And guess what. … I have seen the king and the queen, and 6 of his wifes. We have been very lucky, as one women had been with us in the same combi, and she guided us to the ceremony and explained us a lot. That had been a really great experience.
Sunday we just enjoyed the day, reading, relaxing, going to Manzini, doing nothing ;o)
We have been supposed to leave today again into the low fields, but Nduduzi just arrived yesterday evening from Mozambique, so we are leaving tomorrow. What gives us a new chance to try to go paragliding today. Richard will meet us at 10 here in Mbabane. Hope the wind is good today. I’m really excited, and think that is one step further to fight against my fear for the hight. …

Take care! And hear from you!
    Peggy
